On March 4, Xiaomi made a birthday present for me and announced the Redmi Note 10 line of smartphones. At the moment, the line has 4 models: 10, 10S, 10 Pro, 10 5G, and they all differ significantly in characteristics. I want to introduce you to the younger model in the line with 4/64GB parameters. The review will present tests of the battery and the “iron” component, as well as look at the photo capabilities of the device.

The factory packaging has not undergone any changes. On the front side, the device itself and its possible color solutions are still shown. A total of 3 colors are available: gray (Onyx Gray), white (Pebble White), green (Lake Green).

We open the box and get acquainted with the key features of this model.

The package is standard and does not include anything new. Well, at least the regular power supply has not sunk into oblivion. By the way, according to the state, a factory film is installed on the phone screen, so you should not worry about the screen.

So, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 has good hardware, at a relatively low cost. Where is the catch? And he’s in the back. Firstly, it is plastic, secondly, it feels cheap to the touch, and thirdly, it leaves a lot of prints on itself.
The lid itself has a slightly pronounced pattern in the form of lines, no gradient or iridescent colors are provided.

Redmi Note 10 is the first line with a degree of moisture resistance. Yes, this is not IP68, but only IP53, which protects against dust and splashes. Although this protection does not allow you to fully bathe in the soul, you should not be afraid to ruin your phone from rain and other bad weather.

The camera block stands out for its massiveness and includes a standard set: the main camera, blur module, width and macro module. Of the interesting solutions is the use of Sony modules in the main and wide-angle cameras, everything else is represented by OmniVision and GalaxyCore modules.
Due to the presence of a 48 MP Sony IMX582 as the main camera, there is a red dot and the Ultra Premium inscription on the body. Let’s leave it on the conscience of the manufacturer.

Let’s get acquainted with the body. The edges are made with a pleasant rounding, the main connectors have remained mostly unchanged: a pair of speaker grilles, a TypeC connector, miniJack, an infrared port, a pair of microphones. The sound is pleasant without littered with high frequencies and with imitation of low frequencies. When listening to tracks at maximum volume, there is a feeling of vibration in the central part of the back cover.

The fingerprint scanner has not changed since the Redmi Note 9 and is combined with the on / off key. The response speed is quite fast.
For which special thanks to the manufacturer, this is a combined tray for 2 * nanoSIM and 1 * microSD cards. With the minimum price for a smartphone, it is clear that the manufacturer did not try to save on everything.

Moving on to the front of the device, which is occupied by a 6.43ʺ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels (brightness 700 nits, 60Hz). The so-called chin has not gone anywhere, the Redmi inscription is missing, but it still takes up the lion’s share of usable space.
But the cutout for the front camera is made in the center of the screen itself. Someone gives their sympathy to the keyhole, and someone does not pay much attention to it, and I belong to the second category. The acoustic speaker grille, as well as all possible sensors, are located in the space between the edge of the case and the display. There is no notification indicator.

If we compare the current generation (Redmi Note 10) and the one before last (Redmi Note 8), then the difference between AMOLED and IPS is visible to the naked eye. The Redmi Note 10 screen is brighter, juicier, but more prone to PWM. If you believe third-party measurements, then the PWM of the screen at a brightness of 10% is 120fps, which will negatively affect vision in the dark. Who voted for Amoled instead of the normal IPS?

But the so-called AOD (Always on Display) display appeared with a large selection of pre-installed screens with the possibility of customizing them.

With viewing angles, too, not everything is so smooth and slight distortions are visible when tilted.

The software component is represented by Android 11 with the MIUI 12 shell. It is difficult to tell anything new about it, since most users (judging by the number of devices sold) are more than familiar with it. Extra software / games are installed according to the state, which can be removed if desired. Software updates to 12.5 have not «arrived» yet.
What surprised me more was the amount of free space in the device. At the first start, 20.1 out of 64GB is occupied.

The heart of the Redmi Note 10 is the Snapdragon 678 (Adreno 612 graphics chip), which in synthetic tests produces the following results:

The test that I am especially happy to do is understanding the speed characteristics of RAM (LPDDR4x) and internal storage (UFS 2.2). The results obtained can generally be described as good.

There are no complaints about the quality of mobile / GPS / WiFi signal reception, everything you need works and works well. I used my smartphone as a navigator in the car (Yandex.Navigator), finds satellites, connects to them quickly, no signal loss was observed in the middle of the trip (after all, the set of navigation systems is quite extensive — GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, Beidou).

High autonomy is achieved through the use of a 5000 mAh battery. And thanks to 33W fast charging, the full charge time is 1 hour 27 minutes. The maximum peak consumption is just over 27W (9.55V2.85A).

Overall autonomy is measured in a standard way already: watching a cyclic video on YouTube, 100% display brightness, 50% speaker volume. The final indicator of the screen at 17 hours 27 minutes (with another 3% left) is quite good.

Gaming capabilities can be assessed by several games. I would like to immediately note that the games listed below run at high graphics settings with FPS fluctuating in the range of 25-35 frames / sec and about 17-20 frames at the most intense moments. Not the best result.

Well, in conclusion, let’s look at the photo capabilities of Redmi Note 10. What can I say, the 48MP Sony IMX582 main camera produces quite good results, even in low light conditions. The 8MP Sony IMX355 wide-angle camera also produces a nice picture with a high level of detail. I was also pleased with the 2MP OmniVision OV02B1B blur module, which correctly understood its task and tried to implement the depth of field in accordance with the laws of physics. Under difficult conditions, it also produced a correct picture, but it is desirable to have a face in the frame for focusing, then the result becomes even better.

But the 2MP macro module GalaxyCore GC02M1 did not bring anything interesting, a typical module with close focusing, which is installed on hundreds of other devices.

The front camera of 13 MP Omnivision OV13B10 has a pleasant color reproduction, a high level of detail and supports a program portrait mode. There are no special comments for the module. In general, I liked shooting on Redmi Note 10! Link to full size photos and videos.

For those who like to shoot video, stabilization is provided, which works only in 1080p / 30FPS settings. In other cases — 4k30Fps, 1080p/60FPS, stabilization does not work.

It is not for nothing that this review bears the words “denial, bargaining, acceptance” in the title and the first impression was twofold. It seems that nothing has changed since the previous models of the series, but the serial number is growing, the years go by.
Then I began to recognize the device, find its pros and cons, and eventually got used to it and got used to it. It no longer seemed like such a plastic remnant as it was at the first meeting, but the PWM of the screen still spoiled everything. If you still forget about this nuance during the day, then just lower the brightness and hello!
If you are an ardent fan of Xiaomi and want to switch from the previous Redmi Note 9 line, then the differences for you will be minimal. Although when compared with my 8T, I don’t see a colossal breakthrough either: faster charging has appeared, a budget AMOLED display has been added, but the cameras have not undergone significant changes. In general, if we consider the new line, then only in the Pro version, which has already been added: Snap 732G, 6.67 «AMOLED (120 Hz), Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5, 108MP main camera and NFC.
