Smart watch Maimo Watch R is an entry level with a claim to functionality. Inexpensive smartwatch model with the ability to record GPS training tracks and 5ATM water protection. Just the other day, a global version with localization was presented (there is a Russian language and support for notifications in Cyrillic). The watch is characterized by a large number of built-in modern functions, the ability to monitor 24/7 stress, heart rate and SpO2 levels, remote control of the smartphone camera and control of media content playback is provided.

Above, I said that this model of Maimo Watch R is a global version of a smart watch, the instructions provide the main points of use in Russian, there is not only a link to the application, but also to an extended user manual.
The body is made of polyamide with glass fiber reinforcement (PA+GF). A good enough choice — and there will be fewer scratches / scuffs, and noticeably affects the total mass of the watch itself. On the back of the case there is a heart rate sensor, as well as electrical contacts.
The bezel around the display is made of polished aluminum, painted in the color of the case, but does not carry a semantic load. This is not a bezel in the full sense of the word, the ring does not rotate and has no inscriptions. But along the edge of the glass there is a circular inscription (part of the dial) with divisions. On the side of the watch there is a hardware button for quick access to functions and return to the menu.
Elastic silicone strap included standard type with quick change mechanism. It will not be a problem to take a replacement original or any other strap or bracelet you like with a 20 mm mount.
Electrical contacts are located in the central part of the housing, next to the activity sensor. The charging mount covers the entire bottom of the case, holding on to strong magnets. You can recharge the watch from any available USB charger or computer / laptop.
It makes sense to recharge the watch out of the box, as the first power-up takes place, and in the future you will need to install a fresh firmware update.
The watch uses a fairly bright AMOLED screen. As I said above, Cyrillic fonts, Russian language in the menu and corresponding notifications are supported.
The watch itself has a fairly simple and convenient menu system. You can scroll through icons using touch screen gestures. The cards in the menu and their location can be customized for yourself in the application (menu customization). The clock works quite fast, there are declared functions (camera control, playback control, etc.)
In the training section, there are 100+ exercises grouped by type. You can also customize the order in which cards are displayed. The screen is quite bright, you can see it well on the street, with the exception of direct sunlight.
I tested the connection and operation of the watch on the basis of the Black Shark 5 smartphone. They work smartly, the application sends notifications on time and receives statistics from the watch, you just need to issue the appropriate permissions in the system.
To work with the watch, you will need to download and install the Maimo Fit app. The watch is connected by scanning a barcode on the watch screen. You will need to create an account and carry out the initial setup of the application for the application to work correctly.
Not only sleep and stress monitoring is available for the watch, but SpO2 level measurement is also available during the night as part of this monitoring. The measurement frequency is set in the settings.
Notifications that come from a smartphone to the watch can be customized for each of the applications. Please note that more than 100 ready-made and interesting watch faces are available in the corresponding section of the application. There is a wait when sending a file (~ 3…4 minutes), but then the selected option is applied and stored on the watch.
As for the battery life, the manufacturer did not lie. The built-in 280 mAh battery ensures operation from one charge for ~ 12 days, depending on the activity of use. If the screen brightness is above average or you often use GPS training, then the real working time will be approximately 8~10 days, if more economical use, then more than ~12 days. Quite decently «eats» the activated night monitoring of SpO2.
The smart watch Maimo Watch R is able to recognize the type of activity in automatic mode. If you are already exercising (for example, walking, running, etc.), then a slight vibration will notify you that the corresponding program has started. I would like to note a fairly quick GPS response and the start of track recording when starting a workout. This is a definite plus for the watch.
If we consider the Maimo Watch R smartwatch as a simple entry-level model, then this will be a worthy choice. This model does not give the impression of a cheap gadget, the quality of the case parts and the materials themselves is high, the watch itself is very functional and works out its cost with a head. The watch is also suitable for demanding use with detailed notification settings, for careful activity monitoring, for training with GPS tracks.
