Amazfit GTR4 is a model for the global market, with many languages ​​in the system. The Russian language can be selected immediately when setting the clock (before connecting), as well as after connecting to a smartphone in the corresponding application menu. Includes a quick start guide and a magnetic USB charging cable.

Watch appearance

The GTR4 has cut-outs for a microphone and a speakerphone — this model provides voice calls when connected via Bluetooth. A voice assistant also works — support for English-speaking Alexa is announced, as well as a Chinese assistant. Due to the presence of such functions, water protection has been reduced from 10 ATM to 5 ATM, so if these functions are not needed, it makes sense to take the 3rd generation of Amazfit or the protected T-Rex 2.

The thin aluminum bezel immediately reminded me of the basic version of the Amazfit GTR watch (first generation), which was popular at the time.

The highlight of the model is two hardware buttons with an aggressive design. The upper main button is equipped with a swivel head and decorative trim (notches and a red “sporty” color of the butt). The bottom function button also has a red and black trim, stretched out (previous models had round buttons). Both buttons can be configured in the application for specific actions.

Magnetic charging and biometric sensor

Charging takes place using a cable from the kit, magnetic mount, to the back of the case. The pin arrangement remains the same and is compatible with previous Amazfit GTS3/GTR3 models. Also in the center is the BioTracker 4.0 PPG Biometric biometric complex with bispectral sensors (4PD + 2LED). New algorithms for collecting statistics have been announced, accuracy has been improved by 30% (according to the manufacturer). 24/7 monitoring of stress, oxygen levels and heart rate is provided.

The strap in this version is silicone, original (with Amazfit inscription), quite practical and soft. The mount is standard — 22 mm, for example, leather straps from other GTR models or compatible ones are suitable. You can install a metal bracelet or a Milanese loop with a fitting size of 22 mm.

ZEPP Application

To work with the watch, you will need to download and install the ZEPP application. The application is qualitatively localized if there is a duplication of all the watch settings (from the application you can configure everything the same as in the menu of the watch itself). A watch face store and over 200 screen theme options are available. You can load several of these watch faces into memory at the same time, as well as various useful programs. Zepp OS 2.0 is installed inside the watch, 1 GB of RAM and 2.4 GB is available for the user (for installing programs). Even games (!) are available for download.

There are 154 sports trainings, grouped by sports. For 8 types, automatic recognition of the beginning of the lesson is available, that is, you do not need to manually start the workout. Declared support for saving routes for the return, as well as importing ready-made routes (as on Garmin’s). A little later, I will talk about this function separately.

Comparison with Amazfit GTR 3 Pro

Compared to the popular Amazfit GTR 3 Pro watch, in the new GTR 4 the display has become larger than 1.43 ″ versus 1.39 ″, the resolution of 466 x 466 pixels has slightly changed. The biometric sensor has also been updated. Now this is the 4th generation of an already quite successful sensor. Let me remind you that several photosensors with illumination in different spectra are provided at once. Allows not only to estimate heart rate, but also SpO2 up to minute measurements.

Comparison with Amazfit T-Rex 2

In terms of button design, bezel and sports features, the new GTR 4 strongly resembles the rugged Amazfit T-Rex 2 watch. Individual training patterns, activity type recognition and so on are also available.

Clock display, watch face and on-screen menus

It’s nice that in Amazfit GTR 4, the manufacturer has taken into account and retained all the popular «chips» of the GTR and GTS smartwatch line. There is a constant monitoring of heart rate, you can activate a minute-by-minute analysis of the level of oxygen in the blood, stress and critical pulse values. Detailed sleep statistics with analysis, viewing the training log, additional functions (weather, etc.) are available.

As for the battery life, I give the values ​​u200bu200bfor typical use:

  • Continuous training with GPS tracking: 25 hours (accurate mode) / 44 hours (balanced mode).

  • All functions (GPS, AoD, brightness max, calls, workouts): ~ 7 days.

  • Normal mode (GPS training once a day for half an hour, turning on the screen by raising your hand, notifications, etc.): ~ 14 days.

  • Economy mode (disabled AoD and handshake, battery saving, etc.): ~ 24 days.

  • Minimum mode (interfaces disabled, no connection to a smartphone, battery saving): watch only up to 50 days.
